Cristy Magill is new to the Children’s Cancer Connection Board of Directors! By day, she is the Community Involvement Manager for EMC Insurance.
“Having previously worked in support of families with a child who was recently diagnosed with, undergoing treatment for or had lost a child to cancer, I feel a strong pull to put any time and talent I’m able to offer in a volunteer capacity toward this cause,” Cristy Magill. “And I wholeheartedly believe Children’s Cancer Connection is the place for me to do so!”
Cristy previously volunteered at CCC’s Family Camp, although she jokes that she might not be invited back because all the tie-dye shirts she assisted with turned brown!
“I’m eager to support CCC in any way that I can and wherever help is needed,” Cristy said. “I hope to do some work in the Development space as I’ve spent much of my career in that world, and I’ll be eager to connect more of our community to CCC’s mission and impact.”
Cristy lives in a 105-year-old home in Des Moines with her husband David, son Parker, daughter Lucy and golden retriever Opal. The family moved to Iowa from Seattle four years ago. They greatly miss the mountains but not the cost of living. The family enjoys visiting national parks and any and all traveling. Cristy has taken up golf and recently joined a competitive jigsaw puzzle league! The Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce relationship has unfortunately become a core part of her personality. And, she is excited to add CCC Board Member to her list of activities as well so she can truly impact people in a positive way.
“A pediatric cancer diagnosis is truly life-altering, and it deeply affects all family members and each relationship within a family. So CCC’s focus on the whole family, with special attention given to siblings as well, is so meaningful and necessary,” she said.
CCC thanks Cristy Magill for her commitment to serve on the Board of Directors! Cristy’s term officially begins in January 2024.
