Meet Volunteer Will Krueger

Meet one of CCC’s fantastic volunteers, Will Krueger! Will currently attends the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls.

Will began his journey with Children’s Cancer Connection as an Oncology Camper. He was diagnosed with leukemia at the age of 4. He completed treatment in 2011, and spent years at Camp Heart Connection programs!

“I was motivated to start volunteering as camp staff in 2021 because I have been attending camp since I was 6 years old, and I wanted to give other kids the same experience I was lucky to have!” Will said.

Will has volunteered with CCC in many ways over the years. These include volunteering at Family, Oncology and Sibling Camps, and various other smaller events throughout the year like Back-to-School Bash.

“It’s great to see kids and their families having a good time together and finding an escape from their every day life,” Will said. “I am just glad to help everyone at CCC provide that for them!”

Will keeps busy at UNI with classes, the UNI Varsity Men’s Glee Club and work at the university library’s service desk. He also helped start the Connecting Through Cancer Student Organization at UNI in partnership with Camp Director Jourdan Reed and fellow CCC volunteer Braydon Hamilton. This group aims to support people directly or relationally affected by cancer, and is supported by CCC (but is not a direct CCC program).

Thanks for all you do, Will! You are a remarkable volunteer and CCC family member.
