A Special Adventure

Special Adventure 2026 registration opens March 8th!

Adventures matter, and the ability to get away and hit the road can mean a celebration or turning point in a child’s course of cancer treatment. To support families battling childhood cancer, the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation offers “A Special Adventure” in partnership with Children’s Cancer Connection as a way to provide families access to an all-Iowa weekend getaway to make memories together and have fun.

Registration for 2026 trips for Okoboji and will open March 8 and close April 11. 

Up to 42 Special Adventures will be granted. Any CCC family (including families who have lost a child to cancer) with a child 18 or younger still living at home is eligible to apply, provided they have not been on a previous Special Adventure trip. 

2026 trips and dates are as follows (click on links to download flyers with more information):

July 10-12 (Trip is FULL) – Lake Life Escape (Okoboji)
July 17-19 (Limited spots available)– Splash and Thrill Getaway (Lost Island)
July 31-August 2 – Splash and Thrill Getaway (Lost Island)
August 7-9 (Trip is FULL) – Lake Life Escape (Okoboji)
August 14-16 – Iowa State Fair Adventure (Iowa State Fair)
