A Special Adventure
Special Adventure 2026 registration opens March 1!
Adventures matter, and the ability to get away and hit the road can mean a celebration or turning point in a child’s course of cancer treatment. To support families battling childhood cancer, the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation offers “A Special Adventure” in partnership with Children’s Cancer Connection as a way to provide families access to an all-Iowa weekend getaway to make memories together and have fun.
Registration for 2026 trips will open March 1 and close April 11th.
Up to 40 Special Adventures (5 families per trip) will be granted. Any CCC family (including families who have lost a child to cancer) with a child 18 or younger still living at home is eligible to apply, provided they have not been on a previous Special Adventure.
2026 trips and dates are as follows:
June 19-21 – Nature Lover’s Dream (Honey Creek)
July 10-12 – Lake Life Escape (Okoboji)
July 17-19 – Splash and Thrill Getaway (Lost Island)
July 24-26 – Splash and Thrill Getaway (Lost Island)
July 31 – August 2 – Lake Life Escape (Okoboji)
August 7-9 – Nature Lover’s Dream (Honey Creek)
August 14-16 – Iowa State Fair Adventure (10 families)
